The indirect heater hire units we supplied were fully installed by our HVAC Rentals installation team. Before implementing the heating hire solution for the leisure centre, we firstly carried out a full assessment to establish the best heating solution. Assessing the building lay-out both indoors and outdoors was important in ensuring correct placement of the indirect heaters. The Sahara Site heaters we use have been specifically designed to provide effective and powerful heating. Â
The leisure centre needed indirect heater hire for a number of weeks whilst they carried out repair works on their HVAC system. Like many swimming pools and spa facilities there are many issues which can quickly snowball into more issues when temperature control is not controlled or maintained.
Issues swimming pools face without correct outdoor temperature control
The most obvious would be the comfort of users. As with many swimming pool spas there were also loungers and chill out areas around the pool. Therefore, having a comfortable temperature was important to allow full use of the leisure facility. Without implementing emergency heater hire the swimming pool faced closing its doors. Â
Temperature control also directly affects humidity levels, which is why it is common for the temperature outside of a swimming pool to be slightly warmer than the water. Ideally the water temperature should be around 2 degrees celsius cooler than the ambient temperature. This is so that the air can absorb more water vapour which escapes from the pool. If the temperature outside is a lot cooler it causes evaporation which can lead to condensation. Â
Loss of water due to evaporation can be costly, and require more maintenance, as well as having a negative environmental impact. Furthermore, the water left after evaporation is cooled by the cooler air; which means any heating to the water is impacted. This means that the boiler or water heater is under more usage, yet increasing the water temperature only perpetuates the issue. Supplying a rental dehumidifier does not address these issues. Â
Why correct temperature control is so important in fighting condensation
Condensation is likely one of the worst side effects from incorrect temperature control. If the temperature outside of the pool is a lot cooler then the water vapour (caused by evaporation) will condensate on a cold surface. Thus condensate on walls, floors, wooden benches, chairs etc. This is why a fast implementation of heater hire is important to prevent temperatures outside of the pool dropping. Â
The presence of condensation can then lead to many more issues, both in the long term and short term. Over time the water can seep into the building materials, which in turn causes rust, mould, bacteria, and structural damage. It is important to remember that the condensation is not always just water, as most swimming pools are chlorinated. Therefore, the chlorine only perpetuates the damage and aggressivity.Â
Furthermore, the presence of mould, mildew and bacteria can then lead to significant health issues. Not only causing users of the swimming pool discomfort, but also causing allergic reactions, skin rashes, respiratory problems, and illness. Due to the high presence of condensation there is also more risk of accidents and slips.Â

Installation of the indirect heaters
We installed 2 Sahara site 55 heater units to provide heating to a very large indoor swimming pool area. As the swimming pool occupancy fluctuated through-out the week, they then had the choice to turn off a heater if necessary. They were also placed strategically, so hot air was being provided closest to the location of the swimming pool. By utilising existing windows as access points, the installation was carried out quickly and efficiently. The HVAC Rentals installation team carried out a full risk assessment prior, during and after installation, ensuring to keep to a high standard of health and safety protocols.
As the Sahara site heater runs off of diesel as fuel, we supplied the client with a 450L diesel tank for the indirect heater. Our HVAC Rentals extra large tank for the indirect heater hire makes it easy to maintain, as we connect it to automatically feed into the heater’s smaller main tank. Furthermore, as the heater has thermostat control (via a thermostat placed within the building) the heater only runs when necessary. This means a Sahara site heater can last extended periods without needing to be refuelled (assuming use only during day hours). We then took control of the refuel, which we can arrange at short notice to ensure full uptime of the indirect heater hire.Â
